Just make sure you are switching just XDm's in the same caliber. But you should be able to interchange the 9mm and .40S&W. I've heard that .45ACP's have bigger frames and slides.

If you are happy with the size and trigger of your XDM, but want the red-dot, it would be cheaper to have the slide milled.
