Zadar nice beach Borik, is not close to the old town where all the action is. My suggestion is Split. Stay somewhere east of the old town near a beach. It really depends if you're looking for really intense nightlife or a quiet, relaxing time. Hvar is the former and Brac is the latter. Both offer amazing nature and a rich itinerary in culture and gastronomy. Brac is also better for sports, adventures etc. The view from the Vid's mountain is precious and can't be matched by any view from Hvar.The car ferries are usually very steady in the water and the Drvenik-Sucuraj route is very short. The catamarans could be worse for those prone to sea sickness if there is a swell. 2. Re: ferry question- sea sick.

Zadar is smaller and weather, especially winds and rain, in these parts can be worse than in Split. Traveling to Plitvice from Zagreb is just about 20-30 minutes longer than from Zadar. You can also do a day trip from Zagreb to coast with a car. To Rijeka is approximately 2 hour drive and to Zadar 3 hour drive.
