Yes, I have two 7500SS on custom rods with 80 lbs. spider wire. I assume the BFT is blackfin, not bluefin. I've caught a number of yellowfin (40 lb. class on the 7500SS). First run is impressive, but usually only around 100 yards. A 1KW transducers use multiple elements which increases its sensitivity and resolution. A 1kW transducer has 2-15 time greater sensitivity at 200 kHz and 6-50 times better sensitivity at 50kHZ than a 600W transducer. Here are some screens shots comparing a 600KW and a 1Kw transducer. Most guys used 30 lb mono in spring / summer - then put on 30lb Monel for late fall / winter. It's a good reel for spring - I'd stick with lighter lures - up to say 10 ozs.
