Feb 4, 2012 · Simply twisting/pulling tears up the substrate badly . After my first tub the substrate looked like a yard that had 1000 gophers in it. I ended up having to pull the substrate that was attached to the base of my mushrooms and press it back in as an attempt to fill all of the holes.

Wrong. for me Tyvek really restricted the FAE and the air inside the monotubs stagnated. Polyfill works best for me. I went back and experimented with tyvek during the colonization phase of the monotubs (when FAE isn't 'needed') with the plan to change to polyfill for fruiting. Check the sides of the tub for water collecting. If it doesn't look like it is humid enough in there, spray some water. Remember to be patient. Here is a pic of a nice pinset with low FAE.
