Precon and precon+ stuff is turning into my preferred ways of interacting with the hobby. Feels like, unless you have a really consistent play group, the space between precons and CEDH is a wasteland of disappointing games, hurt feelings, and try-hard BS.All of the LotR and 40K precons slap, and there's Doctor Who decks coming up that are likely also going to be good. The CMM precons are all good, but not as good as their price suggests - they were like 30% shy on "expected" reprint value at release compared to normal precons, iirc.Among the precons of Warhammer 40k, the one that is better built is undoubtedly Forces of the Imperium, given its extreme resilience, ability to interact, and draw cards. Although there are better cards, the deck is well-balanced, being efficient in answers, pumps and other functions. The Dr. Who precons are pretty strong out of the box and fun to play. A lot of reasonable value reprints in them as well. Not the 50 dollar per card kind but 2-5 dollars. So playable yet not bonkers staples. If you can go older, the meren of clan nel Toth precon is probably one of the strongest precons ever printed. Call for Backup is a White/Red/Green +1/+1 Counters deck that showcases the brand new keyword "backup," enhancing your creatures with +1/+1 counters and abilities that last until end of turn. +1/+1 Counters is a theme we've seen a thousand times before in White/Green, but the backup cards provide a little bit of freshness to a stale archetype.Pick your hyperbolic descriptor: absurd.
