The gun was in almost perfect condition, with no marks on the woodwork and only ONE small surface rust spot on the barrel. Open the bolt,take the safety off and squeese the trigger. Continue to hold the trigger back and gently pull the bolt back out of the breech.

I have both a Marlin 783 and a 25mn in 22 wmr. The 783 has a nice walnut stock with pressed checkering while the 25mn (2000 version) has a walnut stained hardwood stock w/o checkering. I'd rather not have any checkering if it is not real cut checkering. Both are eqally accurate with a variety of 22wmr ammunition.

The 782 and 783 were 22mag. The 782 had a mag and the 783 was tube fed. The 780 and 781 were 22lr. The 780 had a mag and the 781 was tube fed. So the answer would be no the 782 was not made in 22lr. I don't think the bolts would be interchangeable between the two, but I'm not sure. You can always look online at Numrich for a 782 bolt.Looking for a bolt for a marlin 783 22 mag. The 781's are just as nice as any other in my opinion, plus they had a nice wood stock on some of them, just like their other '7' models; a nice , thick , juicy, well figured piece of wood.
