So im plannin on putting a little more hp on the engine about 300 to 400 hp but i wanted to keep it manual but I heard these transmissions are wimpy. The bearing retainer is the same, the input shaft length is the same, and the pilot bearing diameter is the same. All you need is any regular Chevy manual trans bellhousing.

The 4L80E will theoretically consume more HP than a 4L60E or other lighter duty transmission. It has a positive displacement pump as opposed to a variable displacement, it is heavier, has more rotating mass, more clutch drag, and on the surface would seem to "eat" HP. The biggest loss would seem to come from the heavier rotating mass.

The 8HP90, 900 nm or 663 ft lbs. You can make 800 HP, but be putting out significantly less TQ. As for the 8HP70 and 90, just look at how close the stock Hellcat is to that capacity limit. Seems like lots of guys able to crank up the boost on it (and definitely exceed that 663 ft lbs.) without issue.
