If you're strictly F2P: honestly, you can use whatever race you want, but Dragonborn gets +2 STR/CHA which are your primary stats so it's a good option regardless. Strimtom's hardcore season 1, 2 and 3 builds are easy to achieve, high survivability, decent new player starting builds that require no tomes. Some involve race/class/universal tree unlocks but a fair bit don't. I would say new players go look there instead of other places. His builds are really good for starters.
