Since flowey destroyed asgore's soul and flowey is a soulless being with the will to live, frisk has no chance of passing through the barrier and I'm pretty sure the 6 souls burned out just by eradicating flowey's omega form. Since a monster soul immediately turns to dust, a boss monster soul is needed as it lingers long enough to be absorbed.
