The business side of me thinks they used this foray into D&D SRD 5.1 to build up a company and create their TA brand. Now they can work on any new IP they want or seek out partnerships with publishers, etc.Pathfinder Kingmaker is a lot like that. Pathfinder Kingmaker and the upcoming Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous would be the closest imo, though mechanically character creation is a lot more complex (and customizable) than Solasta's 5e. Solasta has homebrewed nearly everything, while bg3 had the rights to classes, monsters, and the world setting. Yes, solasta has the SRD content, but so much is heavily homebrewed that even my dnd group won't use the classes from solasta. I forgot that there are even spells in solasta that are homebrewed. Solasta is the best and most faithful implementation of DnD 5th Edition rules in a video game. In this respect, it far surpasses BG3. However, in every other respect, BG3 is better - story, characters, animation, voice-acting etc. If what you liked about BG3 is the story, the romance, the dialogues etc, then Solasta might feel like a step down.
