The GHSA has reclassified its 457 member schools into 56 regions across the seven classifications scheduled for the 2024-26 academic years. The highest class will be 6A down through Class A Division I and II. The appeals meeting Thursday denied or approved schools requests to either play up or down in Class.The State Executive Committee met on Monday, January 10 at the Thomaston-Upson County Civic Center with the main purpose being the ratification of the reclassification of schools for the 2022-24 school years. The GHSA is going back to six classifications, with Class A still split among divisions. Class 6A will be the biggest 14 percent, with Class A the smallest 26 percent, and the middle classifications divided equally. There will be some changes in Central Georgia when those numbers come in and the reclassification committee gets back to work.
