Strength bard can get by with 3 good stats and 3 dump stats by taking a single level of fighter. Strength ranger can get by with 3 good stats and 3 dump stats by taking a feat. Or you can have good strength and con and 14s in dex and wis and just stick with medium armor. Dumping dex and taking the feat locks you out of multiclassing though.
