IWE = Integrated Wheel End. It is what connects the front wheels when you engage 4WD. In 2WD the front wheels just spin like a 2WD truck. Before 2021 they were activated by vacuum and are plagued by vacuum leaks that can partially engage when in 2WD and then they grind. For the 21 MY they are not vacuum actuated.
