I would also suggest that since a glitch has been used to gain the sword, you wont be able to do the trials as the game has proved by not allowing it. Probably do need the correct amount of hearts. Only other thing to try is rebooting the game with the sword saved in your inventory see if that works.

I glitched the sword on my MM playthrough and then I came back once I had enough hearts and pulled the Master Sword out of the pedestal (it's not actually there but you still mime the action, which looks hilarious) and then talked to the Deku tree and I was able to do the sword trials.
