The gun is an honest 99% case color, blue, and wood finish, has mirror bores, perfect screws, tight as new with lever way right of center, and has a RARE SINGLE …I just bought a Lefever Nitro Special 12ga with 30" barrels. S/N indicates manufacture in 1927. BEAUTIFUL gun. Superb mechanical condition. The bone charcoal case hardening is still quite visible on the bottom, and just a bit worn off on the sides. Checkering is still visible, but worn down quite a bit. Otherwise, the stock is gorgeous. Cody Firearms Museum in Cody, WY has begun offering Ithaca Gun Company research letters for some models, and these include records for some of the Lefever Nitro Special models. Nov 24, 2007 · From the get-go in 1922 Ithaca's Lefever Nitro Special was chambered for 2 3/4-inch shells in 12- and 20-gauge and 2 9/16-inch shells in 16-gauge.
