About 2 weeks ago we were traveling to Savannah with 5th wheel in tow and the "service Def System" message appeared. Truck has 8600 miles. Once the message disappeared and display went back to the vehicle info I scrolled down to the messages and it was gone. Hmmm cool it cleared its self. 2 days later it came back followed by the CEL.
Easiest way is to lower tank a bit to find the harness going to tank heater on top of tank. You find to wires coming out of the main def system harness leading to a two wire plug on top of tank. From the plug the wires continue to the sending unit. The reprograms were specifically to address the level not resetting when the tank had been filled.Remove the winter cover when a plow is installed. 1. 3.2. Drained out fluid and replaced with fresh. Everything leads to taking it to a dealer to clear the code. At next fill up it's going to be de-rated to 4mph.
