It depends on the gas station. At the one I usually go to, the pump does a pre-auth of $1 on my capital one card and lets me pump a full tank. That's come in handy a few times. At that same station my dasher direct card won't work at the pump with $50 on it, and doesn't ask me if it's credit or debit.

I use dasher direct and have been for about 6 months and I honestly love it, I have all of my delivery gigs connected to that account so all of my earnings from all my gigs go there. I do have a normal account with navy fed that my normal job goes into but actually having the dasher direct has helped me get better control of my spending.Dasher: Our partner Payfare experienced technical issues on 12/13 which impacted DasherDirect functionality including instant payouts. Man, gonna be a nerve-racking as rent is due today! Mine won't let me get gas with less than $20 on it. It also won’t let me use the card inside for drinks if I used it at the pump and vice versa. Mine does as long as you go in the gas station and specify how much you want to pay and you have to run it as a debit.
